Illusion: that which deceives by giving one a false sense of reality.
Enchantment: a manner of bewitching a person into action based upon attraction and/or the inability to deny the enchanter's request.

Level One

Not to be confused with slight of hand or other simple tricks, the magic of illusion requires insight, imagination, a strong mind, and enough talent and magical stamina to hold spells for extended periods of time. At the first level the only one of these traits the illusionist may have in any great supply is imagination. A level one illusionist, while studying the nature of the Arcanum like all sorcerers goes through a great deal of meditation and mental training in order to hold even the simplest illusion for a spare matter of minutes. This mental training often involves succumbing to illusion themselves and being forced to find a way to break out of it. Confronted with their own hopes and fears in such a spartan manner, approximately half of the individuals who think to take up this trade drop out of it before ever reaching the second level.

Pre-Requisites for Lv.1 Illusionist: None
Skills: 3

Level Two

Enduring the intense training of the first level and somehow coming out of it in one piece, the second level illusionist will have been determined to be of strong mind at least, though at this level magical stamina is lacking and talent yet to be determined. However, the more magical training begins here, and the illusionist begins to learn spells which they may not truly have a mastery of for many years. At the second level the illusionist may have a handful of spells under their belt, but can't hold any of them for more than ten minutes and cannot perform spells one after the other. They are limited to one spell within any three hour period.

Pre-requisites for Lv.2 Illusionist: 100 posts and 3 months at game
Skills: 3

Level Three

While still training their magical stamina at this level, a third level illusionist may learn a minor enchantment or two as these spells are far easier to manipulate than illusions and require less magical energy. Early spells can be held for up to fifteen minutes, but the illusionist is still only able to perform one illusion within any three hour period. If they do not hold the spell for more than five minutes, they MAY be able to perform an enchantment in the time between.

Pre-requisites for Lv.3 Illusionist: 300 posts and 6 months at game
Skills: charm + 2 other

Level Four

After suffering through the beginner levels, the fourth level illusionist finally begins to see the results of their training. The total time allotted for illusions in any 24 hour period is one full hour. Be this an hour-long session or many small illusions adding up to that time, the fourth level illusionist finally has the stamina to pull it off. In addition to this, the fourth level illusionist may also perform 2 enchantments, considering neither exceeds five minutes in duration. Unlike other disciplines of sorcery, the illusionist has no instant spells and no spells that they can cast and then simply sit back and watch. The illusionist MUST retain concentration through the duration of the spell. It is for this reason an illusionist will rarely travel alone and is often accompanied by at least one warrior-to fend off distractions.

Pre-requisites for Lv.4 Illusionist: 500 posts and 9 months at game
Skills: 3

Level Five

Experience is the beloved friend of the fifth level illusionist. While stamina may or may not have improved somewhat from the fourth level, the insight of a fifth level illusionist is a scary thing. At times it seems they can almost predict your deepest fears from only a short conversation. Years of careful attention to detail allow the fifth level illusionist a unique talent at reading people, and the illusionist is not against using ones fears against them, in fact, if they didn't, they wouldn't be much of an illusionist at all.

Pre-requisites for Lv.5 Illusionist: 800 posts and 1 year at game
Skills: 2

Level Six

The sixth level illusionist has their stamina fully behind them for the first time in their career. They can perform a maximum of 3 hours of illusion per day, which is more than anyone would think to or care to bother with. Illusions become more detailed at this level, and the petty trickeries of early levels may give way now to preying on their enemies hopes and fears. The sixth level illusionist is both intelligent and intuitive and has a way of reading people by their posture and facial expression.

Pre-requisites for Lv.6 Illusionist: 1200 posts and 1.5 years at game
Skills: 2

Level Seven

The true power of an illusionist comes at the forefront at the seventh level. While it halves the possible duration of the illusion, the illusionist of the seventh level can perform two to three separate illusions at once. It exhausts them and requires intense concentration, but the ability to accurately perform multiple illusions at the same time is what makes this breed of sorcerer so terrifying. At the seventh level, a casting of multiple illusions exhausts the illusionist for the day to the point where even enchantments may not be attempted, but this is often well worth it.

Pre-requisites for Lv.7 Illusionist: 1600 posts and 2 years at game
Skills: 2

Level Eight

The eighth level alchemist can perform up to five separate illusions at once. They are not detailed affairs, but detailed enough that the peoples of Edarin have taken to calling this ability a 'false terror'. These 'false terrors' are terrifying enough though, able to take out small bands of adventurers in crippling fear within a matter of minutes. An eighth level illusionist may perform one false terror a day, not to outlast twenty minutes, plus one minor illusion.

Pre-requisites for Lv.8 Illusionist: 2100 posts and 3 years at game
Skills: 1

Level Nine

A ninth level illusionist is often envisioned as some variety of malicious and false deity. The greater population of Edarin is so fearful of such a person that children tell scary stories revolving around the ninth level illusionist to one another. It is said the ninth level illusionist is capable of bringing your worst fear to life and keeping you trapped within it until you die from the shock. While this remains to be proven, the ninth level illusionist is certainly not a person to annoy.

Pre-requisites for Lv.9 Illusionist: 3000 posts and 4 years at game
Skills: 1
