Level One
Training at the first level is primarily in supernatural phenomena, types of monsters and stryfe, and strength enhanchement. While cloaked in mystery, this strength training is not the ordinary, but somehow mystically enhanced, making it so that a young devil hunter can very well retain a small size and yet be as strong as a dracon. Over time that strength will increase tenfold but at the first level the devil hunter only has their enhanced strength and eagerness to learn on their side.
Pre-Requisites for Lv.1 Devil Hunter: None
Skills: 3
Level Two
At the second level a devil hunter typicially has at least a good foundation in knowledge of common monsters, though higher level stryfe and rare breeds of creature will probably still be out of their grasp. Know thy enemy is the motto of this job class and the devil hunter will spend much of their time learning everything they can about the creatures they hunt. Strength improves and at this level the devil hunter may take on one other skill that will gradually increase with time(see below).
Devil hunter characters. At the second level you may choose one of the following three skills. As a devil hunter you may gradually increase in one of the below listed three skills, but you permanently forfeit the other two in exchange. Choose carefully.
1. Resist Psyonics: the ability to resist the abilities of the mind
2. Nocturnal Vision: the ability to see in complete darkness
3. Sense Dark Aura: the ability to sense 'dark' or 'evil' auras
Skills increase gradually over time. At the second level they will be only a vague sort of 'sixth sense' but will become a more solid skill over time.
Pre-requisites for Lv.2 Devil Hunter: 100 posts and 3 months at game
Skills: Resist Psyonics, Nocturnal Vision, OR Sense Dark Aura + 2 other
Level Three
Unlike most other job classes, a devil hunter may earn respect and a name for themselves in their trade even as early as the third level. The reason for this is that the percentage of devil hunters that live even this long is only about one quarter of all who deign to enter the trade. Advanced strength, a specialized sixth sense, and a detailed knowledge of monsters and the arcane are behind this devil hunter, but they may still only hunt rather mundane and ordinary beasts. While they may be skilled with handling such creatures they simply don't yet have the strength to handle stryfe or monsters of high levels as yet.
Pre-requisites for Lv.3 Devil Hunter: 300 posts and 6 months at game
Skills: 3
Level Four
A devil hunter of the intermediate level typically has a rudimentary control of their 'sixth sense skill' and beastly strength. Now able to try to defeat stronger monsters many fourth level devil hunters become somewhat overconfident and reckless. While their skills still require fine tuning, if all a monster or stryfe needs is a good beat down, the level four devil hunter is fully capable of taking to the task...they just might be suffering for it in the morning.
Pre-requisites for Lv.4 Devil Hunter: 500 posts and 9 months at game
Skills: 3
Level 5
Of the small percentage of people who take on this dangerous trade, and the even smaller percent who even live past the beginner stages, a meager 10% of those live long enough to see level five. Often with a good few battle scars and an overpowering aura that matches their strength, the fifth level devil hunter is feared almost as much as the monsters he/she slays. They simply aren't considered human.
Pre-requisites for a Lv.5 Devil Hunter: 800 posts and 1 year at game
Skills: 2
Level Six
Often charging for their services well more than a village can afford-and being worth every last ka of it, the sixth level devil hunter is rarely called on for petty monsters. They're just too expensive! Most level six devil hunters spend their time dealing exclusively with high level monsters and stryfe. While not able to handle stryfe of the highest levels, that rarely keeps these hunters from trying. Their tolerance for these creatures is non-existent and many get themselves killed trying to take down one stronger than they can handle.
Pre-requisites for Lv.6 Devil Hunter: 1200 posts and 1.5 years at game
Skills: 2
Level Seven
Villages don't call on a devil hunter of this rare level. They just DON'T. They can't afford it no matter how hard they might try. This level of devil hunter works almost exclusively for nobility or at the request of Edarin's various cities. Why? Because they're the only people who can afford them. A seventh level devil hunter's customers often keep them at arm's length or deal with them through an intermediary. It's as if all the monsters they've slain have somehow become part of them, not in actual fact, but in the amount of fear ordinary citizens have toward them. A seventh level devil hunter exudes an aura of such power that they are often viewed as much a monstrosity as those they slay-the lesser of evils, so to speak.
Pre-requisites for Lv.7 Devil Hunter: 1600 posts and 2 years at game
Skills: 2
Level Eight
If one were to make note of all individuals starting down the path of the devil hunter, a mere 1 1/2% of those will ever make it to this level. A rare breed of warrior there have never been, to date, more than thirty throughout all of Edarin at one time. Fighting more to rid the world of 'evil' than for monetary gain-because let's face it, who could afford them anyway?-the eighth level devil hunter is usually a wanderer, tracking down the highest level stryfe they can find and destroy. It is as if they live with no other purpose in mind.
Pre-requisites for Lv.8 Devil Hunter: 2100 posts and 3 years at game
Skills: 1
Level Nine
The ninth level devil hunter is even more rare than the eighth, with never more than five in existence in all of Edarin at the same time. Dangerous killers said to have a 'frightening presence and cold eyes' by those who meet them, these hunters are both hunter and hunted. High level stryfe will often make great efforts to take these guys down if for no other reason than the glory of saying they did it. Of course, the 9th level devil hunter doesn't really mind-it's less work when they come to you.
